Our spelling series combines
vocabulary and spelling, and it’s done by word families. This way you can
introduce your students to vocabulary suited for the upper grades, while
reinforcing the spelling they should have learned in the third grade. For
example, they’ll learn all the commonly used words that are spelled with -erse,
-urse, or -orse. Included in that word family, for example are purse,
worse, reimburse, and rehearse. The students are not likely to know
the meaning of reimburse; therefore, it becomes a vocabulary word as well
as a spelling word. Each unit is very repetitive, reviewing the words over and
over. The ten units cover dozens of word family sounds.
